(Annapolis, MD) – Congressman C.A. Dutch Ruppersberger (D-MD) Thursday filed for re-election for his eighth term representing Maryland’s Second District, which includes communities in Baltimore City, as well as Baltimore, Anne Arundel, Howard and Harford Counties. He pledged to continue his bipartisan efforts to create jobs and provide constituents with first-rate customer service.

 

“Today, I am asking my constituents to allow me to continue pushing for change in Washington,” Congressman Ruppersberger said. “Now more than ever, our country needs lawmakers who will put solutions before politics. If reelected, I hope to continue working with colleagues on both sides of the aisle to create jobs, responsibly reduce the deficit and refocus on basic needs like education, public safety and transportation.”

 

Congressman Ruppersberger has built a bipartisan reputation, consistently earning a place in the “ideological center” of the House of Representatives in National Journal’s annual Congressional rankings. Constituent service has been a hallmark of Congressman Ruppersberger’s time in office, with thousands of residents receiving help cutting through red tape on issues like foreclosure, Social Security, veterans’ benefits and taxes.

 

As Ranking Member of the House Intelligence Committee, Congressman Ruppersberger has a strong record of fighting for our national security, which has a direct impact on thousands of Marylanders who work at defense agencies and private partners within the district. This session, he worked with the Committee’s Republican chairman to again pass bipartisan legislation to proactively address cyber attacks on American businesses and government such as the breach on the Target corporation and, more recently, the University of Maryland.
