(Dundalk, Maryland) – Congressman C.A. Dutch Ruppersberger has been endorsed by the Battle Grove Democratic Club in Dundalk. Representative Ruppersberger is seeking his fifth term in Congress representing Maryland’s 2nd District which includes neighborhoods in Baltimore County, Anne Arundel County, Harford County, and Baltimore City. Congressman Ruppersberger serves on the Intelligence Committee and the Appropriations Committee.
“It is an honor to receive the Battle Grove Democratic Club endorsement. I fight for issues important to the residents of the Eastside of Baltimore County in Congress and before that when I was the Baltimore County Executive,” said Congressman C.A. Dutch Ruppersberger. “America is starting to come out of the worst recession in half a century. We must continue to pass legislation that gives businesses incentives to create jobs for Americans, purchase new equipment, and expand. I also work hard to keep our country safe, preserve the Chesapeake Bay, strengthen our education system, ensure seniors have access to affordable prescription drugs, take care of our active military personnel and veterans, and fund road and transit improvements.”
On the Intelligence Committee, the Congressman oversees the nation’s intelligence gathering agencies – the CIA, FBI, NSA, and other military intel organizations. He travels to Iraq, Afghanistan, and other locations around the globe to meet with troops and intelligence agents on the frontlines to ensure they have the resources they need to protect the warfighter on the battlefield while also keeping us safe here at home. As Chairman of the Technical and Tactical Intelligence Subcommittee, the Congressman oversees space exploration, satellite infrastructure, and the technical aspects of cyber security.
On the Appropriations Committee, Congressman Ruppersberger ensures Maryland has the necessary resources to support the influx of jobs heading to the region. The years of negotiating and planning for the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) decision have paid off. An estimated 60,000 new jobs are coming to Aberdeen Proving Ground, Fort Meade, and other military bases in Maryland. Fort Meade has also been chosen as the new home of the Cyber Command, bringing thousands of additional new workers. These high-quality, good paying jobs are great news for Maryland’s economy. The Congressman secures funds to ensure we have the infrastructure necessary to support these new positions. He is working hard to upgrade our roads, highways, and bridges, improve our mass transit options, expand our schools and hospitals, and increase support for our first responders and law enforcement officials while also protecting the environment to prepare for this growth.
The Battle Grove Democratic Club was the first club in Baltimore County to endorse Congressman Ruppersberger when he ran for Baltimore County Executive in 1994. Under the Ruppersberger Administration, a multi-million dollar revitalization effort of the Eastside of Baltimore County was started. The results of this massive project are still being realized today.
The primary election is September 14, 2010, and the general election is November 2, 2010.
